Headteacher’s Welcome

I would like to wish you a warm welcome to St Mary’s Primary School. We are a small, nurturing one form entry school in Chessington with a big family of committed staff and pupils. We aspire to be the absolute best we can be and we love to learn! We believe that each one of us is unique and that learning must be tailored to help everyone to fulfil their potential. We want all pupils to feel happy, safe and valued. At St Mary’s, we believe that learning must be meaningful and memorable so that our pupils are prepared for the next stage of their education and beyond. We place the children at the centre of all we do and build upon the foundations of knowledge and skills they have.

Within a secure and nurturing environment, we strive to develop the potential of each pupil in partnership with our families, staff and governors.

If you would like to find out more about our school, then we would love to welcome you to visit us.

We are certainly making the most of our final weeks in primary school...keeping busy learning and also preparing for our celebration assembly!  In Year 6 we have created a 'Micro Society' which involved creating a business, our own money and our own stalls and even electing a mayor and some bankers to oversee the fair trading.   In PSHE we have been thinking about and discussing our strengths and how we want to make the most of these qualities as we move onto the next phase of our education. We have also shared worries we have about moving on to secondary school and suggested ways we can overcome these.   This week we have Sports Days. We have been supporting the younger children prepare for their Sports Day events in coaching/mentoring sessions alongside Mr Redmond.   We have been singing in preparation for our upcoming Leavers' Assembly.  In maths, we have been tasked with cracking codes, solving riddles and working in teams each day to master some maths puzzles. We have also continued our 'double maths' sessions with Mr Parek each Thursday...giving us the full secondary school experience of maths learning to come!  Year 6 also have their last session with Mr Healy from Southborough next week and have unanimously chosen for it to be a football session- what a surprise!   Year 1 have had a DT project of planning, designing and creating a vehicle. With the help of Year 6 teaming up with their younger buddies the Year 1 class were able to successfully make their models, pictures will be on Instagram soon.
